Running a business is always full of surprises; sometimes, even the most established digital tools throw us a curveball. After being verified for four years, my travel agency was verified as of last week. However, this morning, I discovered that I am no longer verified.

Why Does This Happen?

Google has started rolling out re-verification for many businesses. This might be a bit frustrating for some, but it’s essential. Verifying your business profile ensures that your information is up-to-date, credible, and visible to potential clients. This change was a bit of a surprise, but it’s an easy process that I quickly took care of, and I’m here to tell you all about it.

What’s the New Re-verification Process?

Google now requires some businesses to re-verify their profiles through a simple video process. Don’t worry—it’s not as daunting as it sounds! The re-verification process is smooth and only took me a few days.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Record a Short Video: Google requests a quick video showing your business space, logo, and any relevant signage. This step helps confirm that you operate from the location listed on your profile.

  2. Submit the Video for Review: Once you’ve recorded it, submit it to Google for review. The good news is that they usually respond within 5 days or less.

  3. Wait for Re-verification: After your video is approved, your profile will be re-verified, and you’re good to go!

Why Re-verification Matters

While it might feel like a bit of extra work, keeping your Google Business Profile verified is crucial for several reasons:

  • Keeps Your Profile Active: Without re-verification, your business could become less visible on Google, meaning potential clients might not find you as easily.

  • Maintains Credibility: A verified profile helps build trust with potential clients. It shows that your business is active, legitimate, and ready to help.

  • Ensures Accurate Information: Re-verification ensures that your address, hours of operation, and contact details are up to date, which is crucial to attracting and retaining customers.

Take Action: Stay Verified!

If you haven’t checked your Google Business Profile in a while, now’s a good time to do it. Don’t let an expired verification stand in the way of potential clients finding your travel agency online. Google’s re-verification process is quick, easy, and essential for strengthening your digital brand.

So, if your profile is due for re-verification, take action today. The process may have surprised me, but it was worth it to ensure my business is visible and trusted by those who matter most—my clients!
